      Rating: 1/5Another RMA

      Pros: -Cheap

Cons: -Failed after 2.5 months, suddenly stopped being recognized by my laptop (I put my old hard drive into my laptop and it works fine)

-Was having disk errors from the beginning

-Had to go through windows disk repair a few times

-Windows wouldn't boot about 25% of the time, had to do a startup repair every time that happened

-In the process of an RMA

Other Thoughts: Didn't buy this from Newegg, but thought the review would be helpful to people here. I'm in the process of an RMA. This is the second Crucial drive I've own, last one was 128GB which was also sent for RMA (that one was DOA). I'm going to pay a bit more for my next one and get something more reliable.

      Pros: None, alas.

Cons: Unreliable, will fail and corrupt your data.

Other Thoughts: This is my second bad review for this drive because this is the second M4 drive that has failed on me and corrupted my data. The first lasted a year, the second barely a month before I got a "read error" and a blue screen of death. Nice work, Crucial.

      Rating: 1/5My M4 Is Dying...BSOD's...Many Bad Sectors

Pros: The M4 is definately faster than the oem hdd that was in my G73JH.

Cons: My M4 is constantly freezing and bsod'ing with code 0xf4. Around once a week my M4 isn't recognized by the BIOS and to fix this I have to power cycle the M4. (This is done to a laptop by booting to BIOS and leaving alone for 20 min. then shutting down, removing battery and power cord. Leaving it off for 5 min. and repeating 1 or 2 more times.) Windows 7 has also found many bad clusters(196 KB in bad sectors) via chkdsk, which has already caused me to clean install Windows 7 a few times.

Other Thoughts: I wish I purchased the more expensive ssd by another manufacturer instead.

      Rating: 1/5Unmitigated disaster

Pros: It was very fast and cool... until it totally ruined my system.

Cons: It developed bad sectors all over the place, ruined my files, made Windows unusable, all I get now is a blue screen of death because so many system files have been corrupted.

Other Thoughts: It worked fine for about a year. Then it crashed my system and I did a chkdsk to discover bad sectors all over the place. I was foolish enough to replace the damaged files and continue using this drive... until two weeks later it crashed again with even more bad sectors and even more corrupted files. This time it's terminal, I have to rebuild my system from scratch, and, of course, I won't be using this drive anymore. Hopefully Crucial will replace it under warranty. Hopefully.

      Rating: 1/5won't fit

      Pros: Nice fast drive.

Cons: Won't fit in my laptop. Won't fit in many laptops. 9.5mm height, most of which is empty space in these drives, is a stupid size. If they made it 7mm it would fit into pretty much ALL laptops, and then a tiny shim would let it fit into the laptops with the larger drive sizes.

Other Thoughts: At least the size is listed in the specs, but it still is too big to fit into most of the thin laptops that could really benefit from one of these drives.

Pros: Fast for about 30 minutes then it tries to sleep. WEI: 7.8

Cons: My HDX18T automatically tries to sleep and wont wakeup. I did not have this issue prior to installing Crucial M4. If I force sleep, laptop tries to sleep but does not sleep. Cant wake up either. Its on firmware: 0000F.

Other Thoughts: Running Windows 64 bit Ultimate. M4 is on firmware: 0000F.

      Rating: 1/5Never again

      Pros: Came with latest firmware.

Cons: System freezes while installing unrelated drivers (LAN) on an ASROCK Z77 board. I should have read more about this drive online prior to purchasing. The wonderful return policy means I'm pretty much stuck with it as well (I knew this when I ordered which is why I should have done more research).

      Rating: 1/5Update on SSD

      Pros: Fast!

Cons: BSOD before writing this review. NOT AN EXTERPRISE DRIVE. Existing processes in Windows 7 do not allow for the proper functionality of SSD drives in RAID. Be warned that SSD CANNOT RUN PROPERLY in a raid environment due to the lack of "TRIM" capability which will eventually lead to BSOD, random lockups and poor system performance, random running issues and potentially corrupted data. AHCI, single drive mode is the only way to run them currently with intel scheduling a release of a new Rapid storage driver for RAID / TRIM compatibility. This allows for "Garbage Collection" by the SSD for it to run properly. Currently forced to re-install OS on my old drives due to data lockup and random read errors. Can't recommend for enterprise business solutions as it's not a fully supported technology.

Other Thoughts: Technology has tremendous positive potential as long as proper software and firmware is written for it to work properly, unfortunately, as I have found out, the technology and software is not there. Currently like saying.... OK here is a drive that will run for a month, but you may get BSOD's, random lockups, slow performance and an unresponsive system, not to mention, you can't use it in RAID MIRROR incase it does die. I can deal with a Hard Disk defrag if the drive gets slow... but that is unacceptable when it comes to running an enterprise workstation that needs to be running, even slowly, without lockup or BSOD's.

Rating: 1/5Stay Away from Crucial M4

Pros: Great when is was working.

Cons: Installed this drive in my daughter's MacBook Pro 13 less than 1 year ago. Three days ago the screen froze and the school tech reported the drive has died. Contacted Crucial support and was advised to update firmware to latest version.

Spent three days trying to update firmware, but drive would not stay alive long enough to complete. Power cycling would bring drive back but after about 1 minute the drive would disappear. Finally got firmware updated but now the drive cannot be initialized and Windows report I/O error.

      Probably bad controller in SSD.

I urge all the AVOID THIS DRIVE, and personally I will never buy any Crucial product again.

Other Thoughts: Read other M4 users are having the same trouble. My daughter lost 1 months work and I spent three fruitless days trying to recover her data.

I have SSD drives in my office and home computers and never had any break. This one is the first, and will be my last Crucial product.
