1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of the 3k it means that it is only 3/5 the life of normal SSD, June 11, 2012
By Steve R. Winter "CEO sellcom.com" (Durham, NC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB SATA III 2.5-Inch 6.0 Gb/s Solid State Drive SH103S3/240G (Personal Computers)
The "value" means cheaper RAM that won't last as long. The standard is 5k so what you are buying will have 3/5 the normal life of a normal SSD
"According to Kingston and technical reviews the Kingston HyperX 3K is a "value ssd". The 3K refers to the number of program/erase cycles the NAND is rated for. That is less than the typical 5,000 program/erase cycles we usually see."

Rating: 1/5Failed after two hours
Pros: Very fast and responsive
Cons: Dead without warning after two hours
Other Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the drive and how much quieter my PC was without the mechanical hard drive, but that was short lived. After installing Windows 7 and downloading the updates, I rebooted and the PC was unable to detect the drive. Dead after two hours.

Rating: 1/5Bad
Pros: Seems fast. Built a RAID0 and got 750MB/s transfer rate on average (simple tests).
Cons: Crapped out on me just like that, w/o any warning. I spent all that time setting up my linux box and it died the next day!!! How come these manufacturers can never get their testing and QA right! Wasting everyone's time.
Other Thoughts: Does the name Kingston HyperX still mean quality any more? I'll update if/when I receive a replacement. I'm very mad.
