The Panasonic TCP-50 U1 series television is equipped with Full HD 1080p. The television also consists of a native ratio of 30:000:1, VIERA Image, 600 Hz sub-field drive, 900 lines motion resolution, and 3 HDMI inputs.

600Hz Sub-field Drive
The Panasonic TCP 42 C1 series offers a 600Hz Sub-field drive. What does this mean? 10 subfields per frame x 60 frames per second = 600 subfields per second = 600Hz. The original only offered 8 subfields. When using the same implementation, usually the more subfields you can use the better (except brightness may be reduced). This is because in general the # of subfields is related to the # of gray levels; result: more clear/crisp feature.

Full HD 1080p
In addition to the meaning of 1080p as a display resolution, 1080p is also used to describe video equipment capabilities. Use of 1080p and the closely related 1080p labels in consumer products may refer to a range of capabilities. For example, video equipment that up scales to 1080p takes lower resolution material and reformats it for a higher resolution display.

Native Contrast Ratio (30,000: 1)
The contrast ratio is a measure of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. A high contrast ratio is a desired aspect of any display, but with the various methods of measurement for a system or its part, remarkably different measured values can sometimes produce similar results.

900 lines motion resolution
The display standard of 900 lines, 100 Hz/2:1 is presented as an engineering compromise, allowing the construction of 100-Hz displays using conventional techniques while avoiding any compromise of the displayed image quality. A motion adaptive field rate up converter has been constructed that converts either 1250- or 625-line 50-Hz inputs for display at 900 lines, 100 Hz. Initial tests have shown that the concept of a high-quality receiver, as described in the text, is valid in terms of image quality.

3-HDMI inputs
This is a new interface standard for high definition televisions. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. If you are looking for an high definition television, it should have at least one of these connectors.
